An Accommodation that gently supports you on life’s most important days and grows with you over time

A small Hotel limited to just five parties, so our hospitality can reach every guest. In a space filled with antique furniture and fine craftsmanship, enjoy the chef’s carefully crafted cuisine featuring 65 kinds of vegetables, and accept our heartfelt welcome. We hope to be an Accommodation that quietly stays close to you on life’s most important days. From birthdays and wedding anniversaries, and all the years that follow— your time as a couple and your family memories— we want to be a place you’ll remember at each milestone in life. Not only for a once-in-a-lifetime special day, but so that with every new anniversary you’ll think, “Let’s come back.” We want to be an Accommodation that can gently share time with you, growing older alongside your life. Not competing in extravagance, but offering a calm, truly peaceful day for what cannot be replaced. And then, years from now, to welcome you back when you say, “I’m home.” That is our greatest joy. To be chosen for the most important anniversaries of your life, and to keep building those precious moments together for many years to come. That is the kind of Accommodation we strive to be.

  • We were completely satisfied with everything—the guest room, the private open-air bath, and the restaurant. The retro furnishings in the room were truly comforting, and we were impressed by the thoughtful care shown in the meals. We enjoyed a level of luxury that exceeded the price. This is a Hotel we would love to visit again. The Hotel staff were also wonderful. As we get older, we find peace in an Accommodation like this. We hadn’t had many chances to visit Chichibu before, but this Hotel was an excellent base for visiting Mitsumine Shrine, Chichibu Shrine, and Hodosan Shrine (the Chichibu Three Shrines pilgrimage), as well as sightseeing in Nagatoro. Thank you very much for everything.

  • True to its name, this was a wonderful Hotel with a playful touch. The food was delicious, and I could really feel how hard the Hotel works. What impressed me most was that one morning, by chance, I saw from my Room window someone cleaning my car’s windshield. I hurried outside to say thank you, and they replied with a smile, “So you can enjoy the beautiful view clearly.” Wonderful. I will definitely stay again.

Introduction of the Accommodation

In the Building
Origin of the Accommodation Name and Greetings

For example… A heartbroken woman stands by the Seine, tears in her eyes… A wonderful gentleman says softly to her lonely back… “C’est la vie.” “That’s life.” As long as you live, all kinds of things happen. It’s going to be okay. Because that is what it means to live—life itself….

“To age with our guests through the passage of time”—that is the life of C’est la Vie.

C’est la Vie is your private villa—please spend precious time here with someone special. Whether it’s a birthday or wedding anniversary, we would be honored to share in your joy. At times, like a resting perch for a weary migratory bird, we hope this will be a place that soothes both body and mind. Before you know it, it becomes the place you return to. So that we may be your welcoming “home to come back to,” we will always be here for you—quietly and for the long term—with our familiar smiles as we await your valued visit. We are deeply grateful for the happiness of sharing life’s moments together with you.

Big attention to detail in a small Hotel

What matters most at C’est la Vie is being surrounded by the things and people you cherish—everything. C’est la Vie is that kind of place. If guests who feel the same way come to stay, it should feel comfortable. If staff who feel the same way work here, it should feel comfortable. Never forget a caring heart. We want to keep doing what “doesn’t change,” steadily and for a long time. Both staff and guests often feel a mysterious sense of connection. It’s a small Accommodation, but we hope it can become a special Accommodation for someone.

Room
Room

More important than the angle of a bow is the feeling of “welcome.” To offer heartfelt hospitality to each and every guest, we became a small Hotel with just five Rooms. Four of the five Rooms feature a private open-air bath. Please take your time and choose the Room that suits you best. * Rooms with a private open-air bath are C Room, S Room, T Room, and La Room. * For each C’est la vie Room type, only one Room is available. Even if your preferred Room is fully booked, another Room type may still be available.

Restaurant
Restaurant

From the restaurant’s large windows, you can enjoy seasonal views such as fresh spring greenery and autumn foliage. Please also take a look at the stained glass installed above the windows and the exquisite carvings on the balcony. For 40 years, we have believed in the power of nature’s bounty. This philosophy has been passed down from chef to chef, and each morning and evening 65 to 80 kinds of gifts from field and mountain are carefully prepared and brought to your table. A calm restaurant surrounded by antique furniture. We hope our C’est la Vie kaiseki cuisine will let you take home happiness and good health as well.

  • A Culinary-Focused Accommodation | A Kitchen Lit Only Four Days a Week, and a Gourmet Story That Begins with Dashi

Open the door, and time begins to flow gently.
In the hush wrapped in antiques, cuisine waits quietly at the heart of it all.

Dinner is served only four nights a week, yet the kitchen stays alive six days a week without pause.
Lighting the fire, drawing dashi, facing each ingredient—
layers of unseen time weave depth into every plate.

It all begins with bonito and kelp.
Quietly yet unwaveringly drawn, this dashi is the core of this Accommodation.
The flavor inherited from the previous generation—devoted solely to Japanese cuisine—still lives in every dish today.

In his younger years, the chef honed his craft through Western cooking and techniques from around the world.
Free-spirited ideas, delicate flavors, and at times bold presentation—
within a glossy, silky finish that evokes French cuisine,

sauces rich with complex seasonal vegetables and fruits spread aroma and color across each plate,
elevating every course into a one-of-a-kind experience.

With each dish delivered, the atmosphere shifts.
You’re surprised by what you see, enveloped by fragrance, and it melts open on your palate.

Some 65 kinds of seasonal vegetables served morning and evening are gentle on the body—and bring calm to the mind as well.
And finally comes fragrant 100% buckwheat soba stone-milled in-house.
A bowl made with soul closes the course with luxurious tenderness and leaves a deep lingering finish.

What you taste here is not simply food.
It is “time itself,” woven from six days of devotion and the chef’s heartfelt intent.

A memorable story found only at this small Accommodation.
