A welcoming Accommodation that values harmony with nature and heartfelt Japanese hospitality.

Founded in Gora in 1948 by Haruhito Kan’in, with the former Kan’in-no-miya family’s summer villa as its backdrop. The name “Kadan” carries on the spirit of a “place of hospitality” where distinguished guests are welcomed and entertained. Built on “washin”—a Japanese ethos of consideration for others and harmony—we have woven our history as an Accommodation that continues to share the allure of Japanese culture. Together with our dedicated team, “Kadanbito,” we offer stays inspired by the concept of ichiza-konryu—creating a shared sense of unity between host and guest. From the magnificent colonnade and traditional tatami-floored Japanese-style rooms with a kutsunugi-ishi step, to spacious Onsen baths, a moon-viewing terrace accompanied by the sound of a gentle stream, and seasonal kaiseki cuisine, we create enriching moments throughout your stay that connect you with nature’s blessings. A member of Relais & Châteaux since 1992. Awarded the highest rating of Three Michelin Keys for two consecutive years in the MICHELIN Guide Hotel Selection 2025.

  • From the warm welcome on arrival to the heartfelt farewell, we enjoyed consistently kind and comfortable hospitality, allowing me to spend precious, unhurried time with my two daughters. I would like to express my sincere gratitude, especially to the male staff member who took care of us. Though he was still young, his calm presence, graceful manners, and attentive consideration in every detail were outstanding, making our stay even more memorable and truly unforgettable. What impressed me most was that the towels in the washroom had been replaced with fresh ones on the morning of checkout. I have stayed at many Hotels and Ryokans over the years, but this was the first time I experienced such thoughtful care. It was a deeply memorable moment that clearly conveyed genuine consideration for guests. The Tanabata event on Saturday was also wonderful. A staff member in hakama served champagne, creating a beautiful experience filled with Japan’s seasonal charm and atmosphere. My daughter, who has lived abroad for many years, was especially delighted and it became a cherished memory for her. When I mentioned after checkout that we planned to visit the Okada Museum of Art, you immediately prepared a brochure for us—your natural warmth and thoughtfulness continued until the very end. Each dish of our meal was carefully prepared and delicious, and we were able to enjoy everything at a relaxed pace. This stay also served as a celebration for my daughter; thank you sincerely for your kindness as well. Since we stayed only one night this time, my only regret is that I did not have enough time to browse books leisurely in the library within the Accommodation. Next time, I hope to fully enjoy not only your facilities but also the gentle flow of time throughout your Accommodation itself.

  • Despite concerns about rain, we arrived without getting wet.I was able to see the famous long corridor for the first time and was truly impressed. From the Room, we could see a magnificent garden, which felt very calming. I imagined it must be even more beautiful during the autumn foliage season. As for the Onsen, we enjoyed the large public bath, open-air bath, private bath, and the in-room Onsen. My daughter also had an esthetic treatment and was amazed by her first hot stone spa experience. The cuisine was kaiseki with many carefully prepared dishes. The snow crab dumpling soup, salt-grilled ayu sweetfish, and beef tenderloin were especially memorable.Unfortunately it rained on our departure day, but we were kindly driven to Gora Station so we didn’t get wet. By the time we reached Hakone-Yumoto, it had stopped raining. We would love to stay again if we have another opportunity. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
