  • Relaxing

    This Ryokan felt surprisingly spacious and deep beyond what you’d imagine from the entrance. The Japanese-style room, with views of a waterfall and stream and the soothing sound of running water, was truly relaxing. When we went up to the third floor, there was a large hall, and in front of it a pond surrounded by forest. In any case, it was a quiet, calming place.Dinner was delicious for us—perfectly seasoned with rich dashi flavor. The selection of sake and wine was excellent as well, so we really enjoyed the drinks (even though we can’t drink much). It was fun talking with someone who holds a sake sommelier certification; they even let us taste a sake from a brewery in Yamagata that I used to drink long ago, which brought back fond memories and made me very happy.We had a relaxing and enjoyable day.
