A barrier-free Onsen Ryokan that values human connection.

At Asama Onsen, Hotel Tamano-yu has been operating since the 18th year of the Meiji era, always prioritizing guests without being bound by tradition or formality, and all staff have strived to provide comfort to guests. We will continue to offer heartfelt hospitality as a property where guests can rejuvenate.

  • The food was delicious no matter what we tried, and the tableware was stylish as well. The portions were just right, and it was thoughtful that there were additional menu options. The evening mini concert was interactive and fun. The Room and bath were thoroughly cleaned, making our stay very comfortable.

  • This was our second stay, following our visit in April.I truly love everything about this Accommodation—the open, private Onsen and the open-air bath in the Room.Above all, I love the meals. My child kept saying, “So delicious!!” and even said it’s their favorite place ever. In this hot season, starting with chilled udon was also a great touch. The soft drink selection was helpful too—from classic cola to options like grape and apple that my 5-year-old (who doesn’t like carbonation) really enjoyed.Thank you as well for accommodating my request of “I’d like to eat shrimp.”This time we also joined the tempura buffet—everything was delicious, but the corn tempura in particular was outstanding. So sweet! And I’m sorry—I couldn’t resist having rice with the meat, so I ended up stealing some of my child’s rice and enjoyed it very much. The very back table in “Milky Way” was also extremely helpful for us with a child. We’re very sorry for how noisy our children can be, but we would love to stay again.

Onsen

The hot spring loved by the lords of the Edo period

Asama Onsen is a historic hot spring with a history spanning 1300 years since its opening. During the Edo period, the lords of Matsumoto Castle frequented it, and in the Meiji era, it was beloved by many literary figures and artists such as Akiko Yosano and Takehisa Yumeji. This hot spring warms the body from within and leaves the skin smooth. At our facility, in addition to rooms with hot springs, you can enjoy three private open-air baths, a barrier-free private open-air bath, a large communal bath, and a hinoki open-air bath.
