The concept is inspired by "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." A hidden accommodation in Sengokuhara with 9 rooms, each featuring an open-air bath.

Kinnotake Sengokuhara is a Ryokan inspired by the famous Japanese tale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter" (Taketori Monogatari). This mysterious story, whose author remains unknown, tells of a beautiful woman courted by five men, none succeeding in winning her heart... and ends with a fleeting romance with the emperor before she is taken back to the moon. With this enchanting tale as its concept, we have created a harmonious retreat blending Hakone's natural beauty with playful and extraordinary spaces designed to provide relaxation and escape from everyday life.

  • The staff are exceptionally professional. Not a single mistake from anyone.I’d love to know how you maintain such a high standard among your team. The milky hot spring bath was also outstanding. The food quality was excellent as well. That said, as someone with a big appetite, I would have liked a bit more in terms of portion size.I understand the menu changes every two months, so I’d love to visit again.

  • A few years ago, I stayed at Kinnotake in Tounosawa, and I had been wanting to stay in Sengokuhara next—so I was finally able to do so. I was surprised that the Room was two stories. The weather on the day we stayed was so terrible it even made the news, so the open-air bath was cold, but that also became a good memory. The meals were very delicious, and we were completely full. I would like to stay again if I have another chance.
