With sweeping views over Ago Bay, this stay-and-experience Resort Hotel set amid a Mediterranean village is “Shima Mediterranean Village.” Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2023, it underwent a major renovation of its natural Onsen, restaurants, and guest rooms. Inspired by a UNESCO World Heritage site in Spain, the natural Onsen creates an exotic escape from everyday life. Indulge your senses in a one-of-a-kind world filled with international charm—an experience found only here.
At my (still very fit) 87-year-old father’s request, we decided to stay here. We were lucky to have clear skies and it was hot, but there were also rest spots with pleasantly air-conditioned areas, so we enjoyed walking around the Facility. Dinner featured delicious seafood, and breakfast offered both Japanese and Western options.I also enjoyed observing the moon through a telescope and taking in the starry sky. This time we stayed in a villa; it was very spacious, with the living room on the second floor and the bedroom on the first floor. We could see the ocean as well, and it felt like staying at a private vacation home. It was a wonderful non-everyday experience for us as parent and child.
