Enjoy exquisite dishes prepared by our head chef using fresh seafood from Seto Inland Sea and local ingredients, served in the comfort of your Room. An evening stroll through the serene Bikan Historical Quarter after dinner is also highly recommended.
We stayed as a couple and had a truly wonderful time. As it is a historic building in Kurashiki, we were looking forward to our stay, and it exceeded our expectations—full of charm yet comfortable and relaxing without feeling old. The meals reflected the season beautifully, and everything tasted excellent. Above all, the warm hospitality of the staff left a lasting impression. Their thoughtful care made us happy, and we genuinely felt glad we chose to stay here.
KCS 9/10/2026We were very satisfied with the service, meals, and Room. The meals in particular were generous, and we left feeling completely full. However, although we had made a Reservation for a smoking Room, there was no ashtray. When we mentioned it to the staff member, they initially responded with “Smoking?”, and only brought an ashtray after checking, which was disappointing. It was also disappointing that the bath water was too lukewarm.

A historic culinary Ryokan located in the heart of the Bikan District.
Located in the heart of Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Ryokan "Tsurugata" is a traditional inn utilizing a merchant house built during the era of Tokugawa Yoshimune, the 8th Shogun (1744). Alongside important cultural properties such as Ohara House and Ohashi House, it is one of Kurashiki's oldest and most historically significant buildings, preserving the dignified architecture of an Edo-period townhouse with its two-story zushi-style design. The courtyard features a pine tree over 400 years old, the oldest in Kurashiki, complemented by stone lanterns and Kitayama cedar trees that create a serene atmosphere. Historical pillars and floors have been preserved as much as possible, offering a tranquil ambiance that makes you forget the bustling world outside.
