Samana Hotel Yakushima (formerly Hotel Yakushima)
Kagoshima Prefecture/YakushimaA soothing Hotel where you can fully enjoy Yakushima’s nature and natural Onsen, with pleasant southern breezes.
Surrender your heart to the deep, clear blue sea. Welcome to a Hotel where the horizon meets your dreams. The Hotel's pride, "Yakushima Onsen" (alkaline simple hot spring, pH 9.7), offers a luxurious silky texture that feels like soaking in a beauty serum bath. The gentle embrace of the water mirrors the stunning ocean surface. Close your eyes and enjoy the soothing southern breeze and the serene sound of pure waters for an indulgent moment of relaxation.
My friend and I stayed for one night and two days. When we arrived at the front desk to check in, an insect flew toward us and I let out a small scream, but the woman at reception smiled and said, “I’ve lived on Yakushima for a long time, but you never really get used to the insects,” which put me at ease and was very comforting. The lobby was spacious and clean, and the Room was also extremely clean with an amazing ocean view. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner; in particular, the Margherita pizza and mushroom risotto made to order by the chef were delicious. The bath also had a luxurious ocean view, and the silky-smooth water soaked into my body after all the trekking. This time we stayed only one night, but I’d love to come back and stay a bit longer next time.
Thomas Cat 8/2/2026My fourth trip to Yakushima. Since this will be my last for a while, I originally planned to splurge on three nights at Sankara Hotel. However, after casually watching Luna Yamamoto’s YouTube video, I immediately made a Reservation for the Samana Hotel Onsen Suite and requested the same Room. The stay turned out exactly as I had imagined. In fact, I stayed at Samana Hotel in mountain-side Rooms last year and the year before. With a high-quality buffet and a relaxing Onsen, you can time it right and enjoy a very satisfying stay at a reasonable price. This time it was more expensive, but it was truly a wonderful experience. For me, the spectacular view from this Room is on par with Kai Kirishima. As always, the food was delicious, and the open kitchen uses an excellent system.I feel refreshed.Thank you very much.

"samana hotel Yakushima" supports the "Yakushima Zero Carbon Island Declaration" announced by Yakushima Town in December 2023. As part of our eco-friendly initiatives to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, we actively engage in energy-saving measures, water conservation, the use of energy-efficient appliances, environmentally friendly amenities, and efforts to minimize food waste. Additionally, with our rebranding efforts, we have established the "samana Fund." Together with our guests, we aim to reflect on environmental sustainability and pass down the irreplaceable natural heritage registered as a World Natural Heritage site to future generations. Donations received will be used for activities such as maintaining hiking trails, preserving sea turtle nesting environments, projects utilizing locally sourced Yakusugi cedar wood, and organizing events within the island—all contributing to nature conservation and community support in Yakushima.

Experience the natural wonders of Yakushima through a variety of activities. On trekking adventures, discover ancient trees over 1,000 years old, lush moss-covered forests, diverse vegetation spanning from the coast to mountain peaks, and panoramic views from Kyushu's highest summit. With river kayaking or paddleboarding, enjoy crystal-clear streams and verdant mountains viewed from the water's surface. Snorkeling and diving reveal a vibrant underwater world with colorful tropical fish, coral reefs, and even sea turtles if you're lucky. A scenic drive around the island offers breathtaking waterfalls characteristic of this "island of water," white sandy beaches with cobalt-blue waves, and encounters with Yakushima deer or monkeys along the World Heritage-listed Seibu Forest Path. On rainy days or for a slower pace, try hands-on experiences like crafting with Yakusugi cedar wood or pottery making. Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning as a seasoned traveler, immerse yourself in Yakushima's rich array of activities! * Bento boxes for mountain treks can be arranged upon request by 7:00 PM on the day prior to your activity. * Please arrange your own equipment rentals and activity bookings directly; we are happy to assist by introducing guides—feel free to consult us anytime!
