The Hotel’s overall design was produced by Cassina ixc., and the interior design was commissioned to Catherine Memmi, an internationally acclaimed interior designer. With a strong focus on harmony with nature, Catherine Memmi designed the space around a concept of unhurried time in a serene, warmly inviting setting—carefully considering color, materials, and details.

CATHERINE MEMMI

Born in Paris to a painter’s family, she began her career handling PR and production at an advertising agency before flourishing as an interior stylist. In 1993, she opened CATHERINE MEMMI in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Influenced by 1960s American minimalism and the subtlety of Japanese orientalism, she has expressed a “new minimalism” world—simple, graphic forms paired with a sense of contemporary luxury. Today, she also works in retail business, interior design, and art direction.

Okinoshima remains a sacred island where strict religious traditions are still observed, and the associated component sites—such as Munakata Taisha (Hetsu-miya, Nakatsu-miya, and the Okitsu-miya Yohaisho), as well as the Shimbaru-Nuyama Tumulus Group—scattered across Munakata City and Fukutsu City, are registered as World Heritage sites.
