Yunokawa Onsen is known as one of Japan’s “Three Beauty Hot Springs,” alongside Kawachu Onsen in Gunma and Ryujin Onsen in Wakayama. Its waters are a sodium- and calcium-rich sulfate and chloride spring, celebrated as a “beauty bath” that softens the skin’s outer layer and leaves it smooth. After bathing, you’ll notice a pleasantly moisturized feel. At Soan, all baths are continuously fed directly from the source. With its striking bengara-tinted plaster exterior, the restaurant “Suzuna” is a charming space created by relocating a 111-year-old traditional house from Hida-Takayama. Thick beams and timber framing—built to withstand heavy snowfall—radiate the warmth of time and craftsmanship.
