  • The Onsen had wonderfully pleasant water with a silky, skin-clinging feel.

  • I planned this trip because I wanted to visit Izumo Taisha Shrine. Based on IKYU’s reviews, I chose Soan, and the Room was a beautifully renovated traditional house with classic furnishings and a lovely semi-open-air bath. The water temperature was just right, and I wished I could have stayed in it forever. The meals were delicious, with thoughtful explanations. Breakfast also came with careful illustrated notes, which I really appreciated. There were five private baths as well, and each one was enjoyable. This has become an Accommodation I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

Introduction of the Accommodation

About Yuyado Soan

Wrapped in silence, a hidden Accommodation in Izumo where the four seasons speak to you. Spring in bloom, summer rich with greenery, autumn deep and mellow, winter with winds that drift through. Surrounded by Izumo’s abundant nature, you can let your mind unwind and spend time in quiet conversation with stillness. “Yuyado Soan” is an adults-only hideaway of just 16 rooms, featuring free-flowing natural hot spring water from Yunokawa Onsen—one of Japan’s three famed “beauty baths.” A traditional farmhouse over a century old has been lovingly restored into a space where Izumo heritage harmonizes with European antiques, embodying the spirit of finding new value in timeless treasures. Serene guest rooms overlooking the garden, free-flowing Onsen said to nurture beautiful skin, seasonal creative Japanese cuisine, and heartfelt hospitality that eases the soul. May your time here become energy for tomorrow and a memory that colors your life. As an Accommodation worthy of Izumo’s healing spirit, Soan will continue to evolve.

Onsen

Indulge in the luxury of free-flowing natural hot spring water, soothed by one of Japan’s three most beautiful hot springs.

Yunokawa Onsen is known as one of Japan’s “Three Beauty Hot Springs,” alongside Kawachu Onsen in Gunma and Ryujin Onsen in Wakayama. Its waters are a sodium- and calcium-rich sulfate and chloride spring, celebrated as a “beauty bath” that softens the skin’s outer layer and leaves it smooth. After bathing, you’ll notice a pleasantly moisturized feel. At Soan, all baths are continuously fed directly from the source. Enjoy a private soak to your heart’s content in the spacious semi-open-air bath in your detached guest room or in one of our distinctive reservable private baths. Let the gentle warmth relax both body and mind.

Guest Room

A tranquil guest room that blends the charm of a traditional Japanese house with the atmosphere of Izumo.

A detached traditional Japanese Accommodation where the warmth of aged wood and the beauty of silence come alive. “Shiunkaku,” thoughtfully appointed to carry on Izumo’s traditional aesthetics, gently soothes the soul. An Accommodation for relaxation, overlooking the garden as the changing seasons color your window view. Spend a truly unwinding stay in our uniquely styled guest rooms, each quietly reflecting the charm of Izumo.

Japanese kaiseki cuisine

Seasonal Creative Japanese Kaiseki at Soan

Our head chef carefully selects the finest seasonal blessings and transforms ingredients nurtured by Izumo’s mountains and sea into gentle dishes that nourish both body and soul. Soan’s original creative Japanese kaiseki, crafted to bring out the natural flavors of each ingredient, quietly reflects the changing seasons.

Restaurant

Savor nourishing, creative Japanese cuisine embraced by the warmth of a traditional farmhouse.

With its striking bengara-tinted plaster exterior, the restaurant “Suzuna” is a charming space created by relocating a 111-year-old traditional house from Hida-Takayama. Thick beams and timber framing—built to withstand heavy snowfall—radiate the warmth of time and craftsmanship. In this heritage building passed down in Izumo, please relax and savor seasonal flavors along with the atmosphere of days gone by.
