Experience the breathtaking beauty of Shinshu at our accommodation, where you can closely admire the seasonal expressions of the gorge.

A refined sukiya-style retreat nestled along a lush, verdant gorge. All buildings, including the guest rooms, face the Matsukawa Gorge—spring and summer bring fresh greenery as a “gorge-side Accommodation.” In autumn, it becomes a “healing hot spring” floating amid crimson mountains, and in winter, a “moment of tranquility” wrapped in white. This Accommodation offers breathtaking views throughout the year, in every season. For dining, please take your time savoring our signature oil fondue in a private dining room.

  • It was my first stay in a while. The gorge scenery is wonderfully relaxing. The service was exceptionally attentive, with just the right amount of distance for comfort. The staff were thoughtful, and the meals were delicious. This is a lovely Accommodation that makes me want to return every time.

  • Thank you for kindly accepting our last-minute Reservation the day before. It was a wonderful Ryokan nestled in the mountains of Shinshu. The property has been beautifully renovated down to every detail, and what stood out most was the excellent “soft power”—the staff’s professional service truly impressed us (we apologize for the trouble with finding the Room key). My spouse and I travel often, and both the Onsen and this memorable Ryokan will stay with us.

A luxury to savor the way your heart drifts with time through autumn, winter, spring, and summer. Fragrant forests, resonant insect songs, caressing breezes, dazzling sunlight filtering through the trees, seasonal delicacies... With all five senses awakened in a quiet mountain village. In harmony with the changing seasons. A mountain Accommodation where the seasons come full circle.

Bath
Onsen & Bath

Yamada Onsen’s original spring is a renowned hot spring with over 200 years of history. It was discovered by Masanori Fukushima during the Warring States period and officially opened in Kansei 10 (1798), in the mid-Edo period. It has long been cherished by many writers and artists, including Mori Ogai, Tekkan and Akiko Yosano, Kan Kikuchi, and Yaichi Aizu. In the Edo period, our ancestors served as chief retainers of the Matsushiro Domain in Shinshu, which is why it came to be called the “50,000-koku Bath.” The spring water is a sodium-calcium chloride spring. Since ancient times, it has been loved as an Onsen that soothes the heart.
