A property in Oku-Mikawa limited to 5 groups per day. Relax in a tranquil village surrounded by mountains and tea fields.

A tranquil village surrounded by stunning rocky mountains, tea fields, and just a few farmhouses. Right in front of the Property lies the beautiful Makihara Valley. Located slightly away from the Onsen town, this Property blends seamlessly with the rural landscape. Amid this mysterious and soothing scenery stands Hazu Gassho. On the 1,000-tsubo grounds along the valley, there are two gassho-style buildings, a garden, open-air baths, and walking paths. As you proceed through the garden, descend the stone-paved path, and step inside, you will find a spacious entrance, lobby, dining area, and fireplace, all harmoniously showcasing the beauty of Japanese architecture. Beyond the veranda, the lush green valley awaits. You will feel as though time flows gently with the history within every corner of the Property.

  • We stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary. You kindly arranged champagne and a cake to match our requests, which made a wonderful surprise for my wife. We were also very satisfied with the meals. With it being spring, we were able to enjoy the open-air bath in our Room right up until just before check-out.That said, due to the building’s structure, we could hear some footsteps and voices from around us. However, it seemed other guests were also considerate, so it was quiet at night and we slept soundly. Overall, we had a relaxing time and space and were very satisfied.

  • Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a peaceful time. With a maximum of five groups of guests, this small-scale Ryokan is perfect for those who love intimate accommodations. The traditional Gassho-style architecture adds to the unforgettable experience. Please note that due to the age of the building, soundproofing is not ideal, which might be tiring for those overly conscious about noise. The two private open-air baths in separate buildings offer unique charm and provide a relaxing space, though it can get cold in winter. The warmth from the wood-burning fireplace is delightful, and the piano is well-tuned. Meals are generously portioned, served with beautiful tableware. Next time, I look forward to staying in a different room!
