Hidden Retreat Shirakawa Gensen Sanso Takefue is set on an expansive 5,000-tsubo property, featuring only 12 private villas and a spa building, along with 30 natural hot spring baths flowing directly from our own sources. All guest rooms are designed in a modern Japanese style and include an irori (traditional sunken hearth), tatami room, and indoor bath. Eight of the villas also offer open-air baths over 5 meters in size, blending beautifully with the surrounding nature. Meals are served in the comfort of your room at the irori for both dinner and breakfast. This is a serene hideaway for adults to enjoy a luxurious retreat immersed in nature, offering you time to relax and savor the unique Takefue experience.
I splurged on a one-night stay at an Accommodation I’d long admired. Having watched it on YouTube, I knew what to expect, but it was still an overwhelming experience. The attentiveness and demeanor of the staff in charge of my Room, along with their polite language, left a strong impression—it truly felt like a luxury Accommodation. The Room was absolutely wonderful, and the private bath was exceptional as well. The cuisine was stylish and very satisfying. They even accommodated my request during the evening performance, making it an unforgettable night that felt far removed from everyday life. I’ve stayed at many Accommodations over the years, and this is the best one yet. Thank you for such a wonderful day.

A place to live in harmony with nature, a vast land of approximately 5,000 tsubo, the strength of tens of thousands of bamboo groves, the healing of hundreds of maple trees, the limited natural resources of the earth, natural water from private sources, enjoying the blessings of nature, a private space to enjoy the four seasons, Takefue is nature.
The hot spring source at Takefue is classified as a "therapeutic Onsen," known for its high medical treatment effects. Among the "Three Great Beautifying Spring Qualities"—bicarbonate spring, sulfate spring, and sulfur spring—it contains bicarbonate and sulfate springs. The colorless, transparent, tasteless, and odorless water is rich in sodium, which helps lower blood pressure and has a calming effect to relieve pain.
All Rooms feature an irori, a Japanese-style room, and an indoor bath, while the eight separate Rooms include open-air baths. Enjoy the Takefue's private natural hot spring baths at any time of the day.
We focus on using fresh local ingredients from Kumamoto, sourcing the most delicious seasonal ingredients of the time, and meticulously creating dishes with attention to detail, including crafting dressings and sauces to maximize the flavors of the ingredients.
The Zen Spa is located on the second floor of the building facing THE GARDEN TAKEZONO 【竹園】. Equipped with a powder room, please take this opportunity to enjoy a blissful moment.
