Since its establishment in 1903, Sasaya Hotel has cherished and preserved the traditions of a Japanese Ryokan. Over time, buildings have changed, and guest preferences have diversified. While Sasaya Hotel offers a variety of accommodation plans to suit modern needs, each staff member continues to uphold the timeless spirit of "Japanese Ryokan - Sasaya Hotel."

The grounds feature a harmonious blend of modern architecture and historic wooden structures, exuding a serene Japanese ambiance that invites you to a peaceful hot spring retreat. Savor the seasonal flavors of Shinshu cuisine and experience heartfelt hospitality, leaving you with gentle and lasting memories like the warmth of the hot springs.
The property consists of two main buildings: the Sasaya Hotel and a separate wing called "Honenmushi." Honenmushi was designed and built in 1932 by Arata Endo, the first Japanese architect to study under Frank Lloyd Wright, who worked on the former Imperial Hotel. This innovative style, which combined traditional Japanese architecture with hotel design methods, was groundbreaking at the time and is said to have become a model for modern tourist Ryokan architecture. In 2003, it was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. The serene tatami room features a slightly lowered engawa (veranda) with chairs placed to frame the garden view through large glass windows like a painting. The harmony between the tatami room, engawa, and garden creates an integrated sense of unity between nature, architecture, and people.
The menu is chef's choice daily, but we can accommodate allergies if informed in advance.
Sasaya Hotel features two types of large public baths: "Stone Bath" on the first floor and "Wood Bath" on the second floor. Both include open-air baths and offer 100% natural hot spring water directly from our private source.
