An accommodation boasting a 120-tsubo mixed-gender open-air bath, carrying on the name "Yunosuke" since the Edo period.

The history of Ryokan Chōraku-en Yunosuke at Tamatsukuri Onsen is the history of Tamatsukuri Onsen itself. Tamatsukuri Onsen was established in the early Nara period by our ancestor, Hasegawa Toshikata. During the Edo period, the Hasegawa family was entrusted with the management of Tamatsukuri Onsen by the Matsue domain, holding the official title of "Yunosuke." In the first year of the Meiji era, they began operating a ryokan under the name Chōraku-en. For 140 years, they have had the honor of hosting numerous literary figures, dignitaries, and occasionally members of the imperial family.

  • We traveled to celebrate my husband’s birthday. This year, we toured around the San’in region.I had always wanted to visit the famous Tamatsukuri Onsen, known for its beautifying waters.First, I was amazed by the large open-air bath. The indoor bath also felt wonderfully historic and was very clean. We were able to celebrate my husband’s birthday while enjoying a thoughtfully prepared dinner. The garden is magnificent—I was impressed by how meticulously it is maintained in every corner. All of the staff were pleasant and welcoming. However, I was disappointed with the cushion covers in the dining area.

  • I stayed here after visiting Izumo Taisha on 7/23.From the warm welcome at the entrance, to tea served in the lobby, and being shown to my room, I received heartfelt hospitality. Both dinner and breakfast were served in a private dining room, so I could relax and enjoy them. The fresh greenery outside the window was also beautiful. The mixed-gender open-air bath was spacious and wonderfully open, with a comfortable temperature that made it easy to soak for a long time.Under clear skies with plenty of stars visible, I was able to spend a truly relaxing time.I also enjoyed viewing the garden on the expansive grounds; it was beautifully maintained. After checkout as well, they kindly assisted with things like driving me to the station, and in every respect I felt the excellence of this long-established Ryokan.I would love to visit again.Thank you very much.
