Founded in 1888. A long-established Ryokan, renowned as the finest in the San’in region and beloved by many writers and artists.

Minamikan, with a history of 120 years and visited by many literary figures including Toson Shimazaki, had its grand reopening in May 2007. Blending tradition with a fresh sense of style, all Rooms on the 4th floor are equipped with scenic baths. The Japanese garden overlooking Lake Shinji receives high praise in international publications every year. While enjoying this breathtaking view, savor our exclusive "Minami Family's Traditional Sea Bream Rice" at the new "Garden Tea Room Minami." Additionally, Minamikan is located in the heart of Matsue, allowing you to explore the castle town. For an exquisite moment in the San'in region, we warmly invite you to stay at Minamikan.

  • This was a wonderful guest Room worthy of the “Special Suite Annex.” In particular, the Japanese-style Room facing Lake Shinji was a corner Room with a small Japanese garden, and we were able to relax while sitting on the veranda. It was unfortunate that we couldn’t go out onto the terrace due to the rain, but we were able to take our time soaking in the Onsen in the in-Room scenic-view bath while looking out over Lake Shinji. Each dish was excellent, and the sea bream rice at breakfast was outstanding.

  • We stayed as a couple. The Japanese-Western style Room had a calm atmosphere, and the washbasin area was spacious and easy to use. The in-room bath was always filled with hot water, so we could soak anytime, which really helped us relax. Both dinner and breakfast were wonderful; while enjoying views of Lake Shinji and the garden—ranked 6th in Japan—we couldn’t help but savor the delicious dishes along with plenty of local sake. With such outstanding hospitality, we truly felt like a lord and lady. Thank you very much.
