A unique Stays in Iya Valley featuring an open-air bath with natural hot spring water accessible by cable car.

A single accommodation, "Hotel Iya Onsen," is located on the cliffs of the Iya Valley. An open-air bath is situated at the bottom of the valley, approximately 170 meters down via cable car, where you can soak while enjoying the stunning views of the gorge. The beauty of the valley can also be admired from the guest rooms.

  • As a truly secluded Onsen, the drive to get there was challenging, but it was a wonderful Accommodation well worth the effort. Surrounded by abundant nature, even the wait for the cable car was enjoyable as we took in the gorge views and watched small birds. We also used the private bath first thing in the morning and were able to fully enjoy the Onsen while embraced by quiet nature—it was truly an exceptional moment. All of your staff are wonderfully international, and rather than striving for perfection, each person’s sincere, heartfelt work came through, which made us feel very warm inside. At dinner, you kindly changed our table to a window seat, and we enjoyed delicious dishes along with the beautiful scenery. My European husband was also very satisfied. Next time, we would love to return during the autumn foliage or snowy season. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

  • I was finally able to stay at Iya Onsen, which I had long dreamed of visiting. After sightseeing at Oboke Gorge and the Kazurabashi Vine Bridge and traveling along narrow mountain roads, we arrived at a truly charming Accommodation.Taking the cable car down to the open-air bath at the bottom of a deep V-shaped valley was a one-of-a-kind experience. While listening to the river and admiring the greenery, I was able to soak slowly in the pleasantly warm water. The indoor bath in the building also had wonderful views and excellent water. We also thoroughly enjoyed the creative, thoughtfully prepared dishes. The hospitality of all the staff was outstanding. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us. Next time, I would love to visit during the autumn foliage season.
