A property featuring indigo dyeing and kaiseki cuisine, a tranquil retreat for adults nestled in the Yokoya Gorge of Tateshina, Shinshu.

  • This was my first time staying at this Ryokan, and I loved the atmosphere and the view from the Room. The staff were wonderful, and the hostess’s hospitality was especially impressive. Every dish was delicious; my favorite was the clear soup, which I would love to enjoy again if I have the chance.

  • It rained on the day of check-in, and we arrived a little early by car, but a staff member quickly came out with an umbrella and helped with our luggage. We truly appreciated that in the rain. First, we checked in at the lobby and also made a Reservation for a private open-air bath. There was also a welcome drink and sweets service. While receiving an explanation of the facilities, we were escorted to our Room. I’m not comfortable with floor chairs, so I requested a high-backed chair, and they kindly brought one right away. The Room was very comfortable, with yukata robes, padded jackets, tabi socks, as well as samue loungewear, bathrobes, three bath towels per person, bottled water, and more. I was also happy that satellite TV was available. After enjoying tokoroten in the lobby, we picked up the key for the private open-air bath at the front desk and used it from 4:00 PM. It was a 45-minute slot. It was a rock bath called “Yamataka-no-Yu,” and both the garden and atmosphere were wonderful—spacious and full of charm. The hot spring water had no strong quirks; it was slightly lukewarm to my liking but warmed me thoroughly. Having a toilet area, bath towels, and cold water there was excellent; however, the shower water pressure was weak. It was convenient that we didn’t need to return the key to the front desk afterward. Dinner dishes were all truly delicious. On a personal note: my father’s family home is about five minutes by car from Tateshina Ai-san Ryokan (this Accommodation), so I often ate celery as a child—the celery in both the salad and pickles tasted wonderfully nostalgic to me. Of course, every locally sourced dish was outstanding. To our surprise, we even received greetings from the proprietress (okami), which moved us deeply—she was truly lovely. From 8:00 PM onward، viewing their illuminated garden while enjoying complimentary drinks was beautiful as well。 Breakfast also featured local ingredients، bringing back strong nostalgia، وI left completely satisfied—and very full۔ It Was nice that after-meal coffee Was served rather than self-service। One of my IKYU Diamond benefits included late check-out at 11:00 AM، so they didn’t ask us to put away our futons in The morning, allowing us to enjoy sleeping in。 All staff members were very pleasant۔ Even in The rain، this Ryokan had wonderful charm And felt soothing۔ We visit Tateshina once A year, And As We left this Accommodation, My wife And I agreed That We’d like To come back again next year。
