Be soothed by contemporary art displayed throughout and the abundant natural beauty of the Setouchi region.

Benesse House, opened in 1992, is an accommodation that integrates a museum and a hotel under the concept of "Coexistence of Nature, Architecture, and Art." The property features four distinct accommodation buildings: "Museum," where you can stay inside the museum; "Oval," offering breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea; "Park," surrounded by sea, greenery, and art; and "Beach," enveloped by the sound of gentle waves. Additionally, it includes a restaurant, café, spa, and shop. All architecture was designed by Tadao Ando to harmonize with the environment of Setonaikai National Park over time. The long slopes, stairs, pathways for movement within the facility, and natural light streaming through framed openings invite guests to experience contemporary art with their entire being.

  • I enjoyed a luxurious stay surrounded by art. Both the space and the service were excellent, and all of the staff were kind. With Shuttle Service buses to the port and museums, getting around the island was very convenient. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Naoshima.

  • I stayed for two nights, and throughout my stay I received outstanding service, making it a truly comfortable and fulfilling experience. Having access to the dedicated shuttle bus was also very convenient, allowing me to enjoy my stay with peace of mind when getting around. What impressed me most was the nighttime viewing available exclusively to guests. Being able to appreciate the artworks in a quiet, special atmosphere different from daytime was a truly luxurious experience.I was worried I might not make it in time for the gallery tour starting at 4:00 PM, but thanks to the front desk staff kindly arranging a separate car and driving me there, I was able to join without any issues. I am sincerely grateful for their flexible and heartwarming support. In addition, they provided a thorough explanation of the “Corridor of Time,” and I had the chance to hear various stories about the intentions behind the artworks and Facility as well as their background. Rather than simply viewing the pieces, I was able to understand their value and meaning more deeply, which made it an extremely meaningful time. For future guests, I highly recommend listening to the guide’s explanations—they will enrich how you view and feel about the works and make your stay even more satisfying.

Introduction of the Accommodation

View

Benesse House, opened in 1992, is an accommodation that integrates a museum and hotel under the concept of "harmony among nature, architecture, and art." It features four distinct accommodation buildings: "Museum," where you can stay inside the museum; "Oval," offering breathtaking views of Setouchi; "Park," surrounded by sea, greenery, and art; and "Beach," enveloped by the sound of gentle waves. Additionally, it includes a restaurant, café, spa, and shop. All structures were designed by Tadao Ando to harmonize with the environment of Setonaikai National Park over time. The long slopes, stairs, pathways for movement within the facility as well as natural light pouring through framed openings invite guests to experience modern art with their entire body both inside and outside. On IKYU.com, we offer rooms in two accommodation buildings—"Park" and "Beach"—which were newly established in 2006. For check-in at either building, please proceed to the front desk at "Park."
