How about taking a stroll through the streets of Akita? ■ Atrion (About a 5-minute walk from Akita Station) This facility includes art museums such as the Akita City Chiaki Art Museum and the Kenzo Okada Memorial Museum, as well as a music hall, women's center, industrial center, and multipurpose hall. You can also gather information on Akita's tourist points and souvenirs. The music hall, in particular, features a magnificent pipe organ and is highly praised for its excellent acoustics. ■ Masakichi Hirano Art Museum (About a 5-minute walk from Akita Station) This museum showcases masterpieces by Tsuguharu Foujita, a leading figure in the world of art. Among them, the wall painting "Akita's Events," said to be the largest canvas painting of the century (3.65m high and 20.5m wide), is a masterpiece that vividly depicts Akita in 1937. - Opening Hours: May–September 10:00–17:30 / October–April 10:00–17:00 - Closed: Every Monday (or the following day if Monday is a holiday) ■ Senshu Park (About a 5-minute walk from Akita Station) The site of Kubota Castle, the 200,000-koku domain of the Akita Satake Clan. The cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, as well as the lotus flowers in early summer, are particularly beautiful and delight passersby. The restored Osumiyagura, a symbol of Senshu Park, houses historical exhibits, and the observation room offers a panoramic view of the city. ■ Neburi Nagashi-kan (Akita City Folklore and Performing Arts Center) (About a 15-minute walk from Akita Station) This facility is dedicated to preserving and passing down traditional events and folk performing arts of Akita, such as the Kanto Festival, Bonten Festival, Akita Banzai, and Sanya Banraku, while fostering successors. Real Kanto poles are on display, and visitors can touch and try them out. - Viewing Hours: 9:30–16:30 - Closed: Year-end and New Year holidays (12/29–1/3) ■ Akita Red Brick Folk Museum (About a 15-minute walk from Akita Station, or 1 minute on foot from the bus stop "Kotsu Kosha-mae") This museum exhibits historical materials of Akita City, traditional crafts, and works by printmaker Tokushi Katsuhira. The building is a Western-style structure combining Renaissance exteriors with Baroque interiors, originally built in 1912 as the Akita Bank headquarters.
