Saryo Soen sits on an approximately 8,000-tsubo property that is designed as a Japanese garden, allowing you to enjoy its seasonal beauty from anywhere in the ryokan. The buildings are crafted in an authentic sukiya-style traditional design, showcasing the essence of Japanese architecture in harmony with nature.
The Facility was very luxurious yet refined and relaxing. The hospitality was excellent, and the meals were truly delicious. The Onsen water was clear and colorless, but it lived up to its reputation as one of Japan’s Three Famous Hot Springs, said to have been favored by Masamune Date. It doesn’t make you overheat easily and keeps you warm for a long time—an exceptional spring quality that warmed both body and mind and soothed me deeply. Next time, I would love to stay in a Room with a private open-air bath. I will definitely return.

I stayed with my elderly parents, and thanks to your considerate support, we were able to spend our time comfortably. Dinner began with refreshing summer appetizers, followed by fresh sashimi, a small hot pot with eel, and Sendai beef sirloin—each served in just the right portions and thoroughly enjoyed. The handmade soy milk hot pot at breakfast was also healthy and delicious. At first the open-air bath in our room felt a bit hot, but it soon became wonderfully soothing, and I could tell it was high-quality Onsen water. My parents were very happy as well. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We invite you to enjoy a sense of nostalgic relaxation.
Nestled in the secluded retreat of Sendai along the Natori River gorge, Akiu Onsen has been renowned since ancient times for its restorative qualities. “We want to create a true Japanese Ryokan.” That has always been our wish. A garden of beauty that lets you feel the breeze, colors, and fragrance. Architecture that preserves tradition. Japanese cuisine that welcomes you with the finest seasonal ingredients. A Japanese Ryokan where these three come together to create a deeply fulfilling day—this is Saryo Soen.
Meals
For guests staying in the Main Building Japanese-style Room, dinner and breakfast are served at the dining area; only detached Rooms with an open-air bath offer in-Room dining. In the evening, enjoy a colorful kaiseki course featuring the flavors of Michinoku, blessed with both seafood and mountain delicacies, infused with seasonal aromas. Dishes made with Sanriku black abalone are especially popular. In the morning, please enjoy Japanese flavors including our signature yudofu (hot tofu).
