A 400-year-old luxury Hotel located closest to Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima.

"Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto" is a Ryokan with a history dating back to the early Edo period, now run by its 20th generation. It is the closest accommodation to Itsukushima Shrine and the oldest accommodation in Miyajima, welcoming numerous guests over the years. In 1974, it opened a new annex on an elevated location behind the shrine, moving from its original site along Ari-no-Ura beach. The Ryokan has since been dedicated to providing hospitality to visitors of Itsukushima Shrine and guests from across Japan and overseas, allowing them to enjoy Miyajima's natural beauty and rich history. The traditional Japanese Sukiya-style rooms and Setouchi Kaiseki cuisine are among its highlights.

  • All of the staff were extremely kind and made our stay very comfortable. Every dish was delicious, with just the right portions, and the timing of each course was perfect—we were very satisfied. The open-air bath was especially relaxing. This is a Ryokan we would love to stay at again when we visit Miyajima.

  • All the staff provided wonderful, attentive service!Even in the intense midsummer heat on Miyajima, we had a truly enjoyable trip. The night tour after dinner was very informative, and the local guide’s storytelling really made us feel like we were traveling—she was fantastic.Because of time constraints and the heat, we couldn’t make it to the summit of Mt. Misen, so next time we’ll visit in autumn and would love to stay here again.Thank you very much.
