A welcoming accommodation proud to serve local cuisine made with ingredients from Yamagata.

Awarded a spot in the "Top 100 Hotels and Ryokans in Japan Chosen by Professionals" for 40 consecutive years. Our cuisine, featuring A5-grade Yonezawa Beef and Yamagata Beef, Japan's top-rated rice "Tsuyahime," and fresh vegetables directly sourced from contracted farmers, is highly praised by our guests. The lobby exudes rich Japanese ambiance, and there is a Kyoto-style restaurant on-site. Within the premises, you can find the remains of a 1,300-year-old Sue ware kiln, which is the origin of the establishment's name and is designated as a cultural property of the prefecture. Guests can enjoy painting on Raku ware, and the gallery inside the facility displays over 3,000 works by prominent figures from various fields. In addition to the open-air bath on the first floor, there is a private open-air bath on the third floor for complete privacy, and an observation open-air bath on the eighth floor offering views of the Zao mountain range to the east. Our cuisine highlights the local flavors of Yamagata, with specialties such as Yonezawa Beef steak, sukiyaki, Onsen-steamed shabu-shabu, and Yamagata's famous imoni stew, all of which are highly popular.

  • We chose the assigned Room, and it was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were extremely courteous, offering us drinks and even taking photos for us after checkout, which made us feel truly welcomed. As part of the Accommodation was under renovation, they apologized for any inconvenience and even gave us some sweets. We would definitely like to stay again.

  • I had trouble choosing a Ryokan.I had made a Reservation at an affiliated Hotel, but somehow I ended up booking the same dates twice and didn’t realize it was a double booking. Koyo kindly called to let me know—thank you so much. The location was very easy to find with navigation, and even though it was my first time there, I arrived without getting lost at all.We were welcomed with warm smiles and cheerful greetings, and the explanations were clear and easy to understand. The baths were spacious and wonderful. There were many types of shampoo to choose from.We also booked a private Onsen, where we could relax fully—and it was so much fun chatting while soaking. And the hair dryer was that luxury model! My hair loved it.After the bath, we could take our time before dinner. Everything we tried was delicious.Breakfast was buffet-style with lots of local specialties, and you could really see the thoughtful touches. It wasn’t a bed but futons—and they were incredibly comfortable. The pillow was excellent too.It was a truly satisfying trip: great food, great sleep, and total relaxation. When we left, everyone saw us off, and they took a commemorative Hanagasa photo for us in front of the entrance—such a lovely memory. The building wasn’t brand-new by any means, but it felt clean and bright. Also, there seemed to be many younger staff members. That probably means it’s an easy place to work—and their positive energy made us feel great as guests. Thanks to Koyo, my first trip to Yamagata was genuinely enjoyable. It became a place I’d definitely love to stay at again. And that toilet… quite unique. It gave us something to laugh about!
