A long-established Ryokan founded in 1874, popular for its open-air panoramic bath overlooking Kochi Castle town.

Since its founding in the seventh year of the Meiji era, Stays Josaikan has been widely loved as a property of sincerity in Tosa, welcoming many distinguished guests from the imperial family, as well as numerous political and business leaders. What we always cherish is the idea of our property as an extension of the home. We sincerely and wholeheartedly offer hospitality with gratitude, so that guests who have traveled all the way to Tosa can relax and feel at ease. Time flows and eras change, but the spirit of hospitality remains unchanged. Subtly and warmly. The passionate thoughts of our predecessors still live on in Stays Josaikan.

  • Both the meals and the bath were excellent.

    Thank you for taking care of us during our summer trip to Shikoku. Before dinner, we were able to watch a live demonstration of straw-seared bonito, and it was truly delicious. The bath was also spacious and very relaxing. We didn’t know until we arrived, but this is a historic and prestigious Accommodation, and every staff member who assisted us was courteous and attentive. We booked the guided walking stay Plan, and the next day we visited ponds associated with Ryoma Sakamoto while walking. The explanations were thorough, making it a truly memorable experience.

  • Professional hospitality service

    As you’d expect from a long-established Ryokan, all the staff—both younger and more experienced—provided truly professional service. Housekeeping and Facility maintenance throughout the building were excellent. The large public bath had everything you could want: an open-air bath, an indoor bath, a sauna, and a cold plunge. The yuzu tea service after bathing and the free massage chairs were also a nice touch. If I have the chance to visit again, I’ll choose Jyoseikan without hesitation. I would also recommend it to everyone.
