Aldo Rossi, the world-renowned Italian architect who shaped 20th-century architecture, and Shigeru Uchida, one of Japan’s leading interior designers, joined forces to open this Hotel in 1989 as Japan’s first design hotel. In 2023, it was “Re-Designed” into a new space that carries on the original vision. In the 130-seat underground lounge “EL DORADO,” we offer a breakfast buffet and lounge services. All staying guests have free access. Enjoy this additional living room beyond your guestroom, and spend time in the Re-Designed space.
From the photos, I initially thought we would have to climb stairs to enter, but the building is designed so you can take an elevator down to the basement, which made our stay with my elderly mother easy and comfortable. The design is outstanding, and after entering you first arrive at the basement front desk and lounge—an exciting start that really builds anticipation. The Room was bright and open, with a very spacious bathroom; the sink area is separate and close to the bedroom, making it extremely convenient and comfortable overall. This is a Hotel I definitely want to return to.
The best Hotel I have ever stayed at during my travels! The food was delicious, and it made me happy from the morning. Thank you for bringing the birthday surprise for my husband to our Room! I would love to stay here again when I visit Fukuoka!
